County News # 1During Monday’s County Commissioner meeting, President Kevin Overmyer said during the department heads annual evaluations it was asked that quarterly reports be presented to the commissioners during 2019.  On Monday several department heads presented their first quarter reports.

Gary Masterson, handling maintenance at the jail said they recently had the roof-top heating and AC units assessed since they are 12 years old.  Dynamic Mechanical said the heating side is doing well and they will be back during the summer to assess the cooling side.  Masterson did say one of the units is a 3-ton unit and too small so they were quoted a 5-ton unit for $12,000.

The roof-top units have a life expectancy of 15 to 20 years so Masterson said they need to be thinking implementing a replacement plan in the near future.

He also said 6 new cameras have been installed at the jail, the boiler pump has been rebuilt and a new sewer grinder was installed and working well.

Veteran’s Service Officer, Pam Schweizer-Betz said she is staying very busy and has been able to assist local veterans in receiving nearly $100,000 of back-pay during the first quarter of 2019.
