MCS&W_Howard and Joe3-2019Arrow Head Country Resource Conservation District (RC&D) awards grants annually for conservation projects through a competitive application and review process. Marshall County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is pleased to announce it has received a $2,500 grant from the Arrow Head Country RC&D for a new pollinator habitat installation.

Honey bees and other pollinators have been in decline for several years.  This decline can be attributed to parasites and pesticides, from food source scarcity and lack of diversity. An additional contributor to the decline is habitat destruction, which limitsnesting sites for wild pollinators.  Marshall County SWCD, in partnership with Pioneer Seed, Purdue Extension Marshall County, NRCS and Pheasants Forever, will use these grant funds for a new pollinator habitat at the Pioneer Seed Plymouth location on US 30.This habitat will be a food source and habitat for pollinators, as well as an educational tool for local schools.
