Contractors who work in the Plymouth City Limits will be required to register beginning April 1st.
Monday night the Plymouth City Council passes on three reading an ordinance creating a registration policy for contractors.
Contractors will be able to register online when the city begins using a new software package called “MyGov”.
The term “contractor” means any person, firm, or entity engaging for remuneration in the building or construction business, including: any new construction, remodeling, repairs, alteration, or demolition of non-residential and residential properties for which a City permit is required.
Contractor will be required to register with the City Building Commissioner and at the time of registration provide a certificate of insurance showing general liability coverage and proof of workers’ compensation insurance. The contractor will also pay a fee of $75 for their first time enrollment and subsequent years shall pay $50 annually.
The ordinance allows the City Building Inspector to refuse a contractor if they have refused to comply with the Building Code or other ordinances after being notified of such.
