Approximately 6:27 PM Marshall County 911 Center started receiving calls of a motor vehicle crash on US 6 at Tamarack Rd involving an SUV and a utility truck with one of the vehicles also striking a house. Kaylee Renee Matz (22) of Walkerton was the driver of the SUV that was traveling westbound on US 6 when the utility truck, for an unknown reason, drove into the travel portion of US 6 and was struck by the vehicle driven by Kaylee Renee Matz. Miss Matz died from her injuries at the scene at 7:20 PM. Miss Matz was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the utility truck was not injured nor was anyone in the house.
The crash remains under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department. Departments assisting at the scene were Plymouth Fire Paramedics, Polk Twp Fire, Walkerton EMS, Indiana State Police, and Indiana State Department of Transportation. The Marshall County Coroner John Grolich, assisted by Deputy Coroner John Lampkins is also conducting the death investigation.
