Child porn

An investigation by Detective Ben McIntyre with the Plymouth Police Department last week lead to the arrest of a Plymouth man being lodged in the Marshall County Jail for Possession of Child Pornography of children less than 16 years of age. 

Friday afternoon Officer John Weir was dispatched to 910 West LaPorte Street in reference to a parent finding what they believed to be child pornography on their son’s computer.  Officer Weir was show a cell phone video of what was on the computer and confirmed the child pornography.  He secured the computer for an investigation.

Detective McIntyre spoke to the parent and was able to take the son, 26 year old Jordan Skyler Hanthorn into custody.  I was also learned that Hanthorn had an active warrant for his arrest for Contempt of Court.

During the investigation Hanthorn eventually admitted to the Detective that he had downloaded 15 to 20 zip files from different sites and had 10 to 20 videos of nude girls between the ages of 10 and 16 years of age and under 100 images.  He also admitted to having 100 to 200 images of clothes girls of the same age group. 

Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman issued a warrant for Hanthorn’s arrest.  He was lodged in the Jail on Friday afternoon for Possession of Child Pornography, a Level 6 Felony and given a $25,000 cash bond. 

 Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
