Novelty Plum_1The request to limit parking at the corner of Novelty and Plum Streets in Plymouth was tabled by the Board of Public Works and Safety.

Monday evening, local businessman Greg Frushour told the board the warehouses he owns at that corner has a loading dock in-between the two buildings and was designed in the 70’s for a 40 foot semi trailer with a yard-truck.  He went on to say that the semi trailers are now 52 to 53 feet long and typically pulled by a semi tractor sometime with a sleeper on it making it much longer than it was designed for.

Novelty Plum_2Frushour said the neighbor parks his vehicle on the street which causes troubles for the semis trying to back into the dock.   At times the police department has been called to assist in moving the vehicle so the semi could back in.  He also requested to have the tree on the corner that is leaning removed.

The board asked Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt to notify the parties involved of the request and allow them to appear at the next board meeting if they wish.  He will also make a recommendation on what direction semi drivers should use to access the loading dock.
