County News # 1A couple from Chicago who purchased a piece of property at 3450 Maple Road in Plymouth will not need a Special Use permit to allow the temporary use of a 34 foot travel trailer on their lot.

Tuesday evening the Marshall County Board of Zoning Appeals heard Ty Adley, the County Plan Director present the case in which he believed the couple wanted to live in the travel trailer while their built a home on the site.  During the discussion it was found that the Lazzaaronis only wanted to place their trailer on the lot for weekend use and maybe a week during the summer until they retire and build their retirement home.

Ron Lazzaroni told the County BZA that he and his wife work and won’t be retiring for several more years.  The lot they purchased from Ronald and Susan Haas in October had a violation from the county for junk, debris and tall weeds.  Since they took possession of the property they have spent approximately $5,000 cleaning it up and demolishing the mobile home on the site. The lot also has two pipelines running through it and the rear portion is in a flood plain.

During a public hearing Kay Miller, a neighbor said she has fought with the county for three years to get the property taken care of and not the Lazzaronis have made a drastic and positive change.  Another neighbor, Judy Clark wrote a letter in favor of the special use.

Hearing the planned usage for the trailer, the BZA suggested withdrawing the request and the Lazzaronis did so.  They were also informed that the county regulations only permit the trailer to be occupied on site for a total of 8 weeks each year.  They were also instructed to dispose of any sanitation in the proper way and obtain a demolition permit for the mobile home on the site.
