Poverty SimulationCommunity leaders have been invited to experience what it is like living in poverty in Marshall County.

Chris Garner, Executive director of the Marshall County Neighborhood Center said, “Over the past year Marshall County has taken the initiative to make great plans. Many of our leaders have spent time around tables dreaming about what Marshall County and our communities could be. Together we have applied for grants and seen many wonderful events take place.”

The Neighborhood Center, along with Plymouth Community Schools and Marshall County Extension Office, will be hosting a Poverty Simulation on Wednesday, January 23rd from 10am – 1pm.

Garner said, “Marshall County continues to have a growing population of those living at or below poverty level. It is important as community, government, health, faith and education leaders that we seek to understand and learn more about how to help lift people out of poverty. This simulation helps to provide a glimpse into what a month in the life of poverty looks like and feels like.”

The hope of the organizations is to see key leaders in the community growing and finding ways to better engage those living in poverty and working together to find and build solutions to the needs in our community.

The Poverty Simulation will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd from 10am till 1pm at the Plymouth Community Church/Stockman Youth Building.

Garner asks community leaders to RSVP no later than January 16th by calling the Neighborhood Center at 936-3388 or by email to directormcnc@gmail.com.
