sign the petitionDuring their last meeting of 2018, on Monday, December 31st, Marshall County Commissioner Mike Delp said they had been presented with a petition from the Lake of the Woods Property Owners Association requesting improvements to their roads.

In the cover letter the Board of Directors said during their November meeting it was requested a petition to be prepared for Lake of the Woods property owners to request major road work on the roads in 2019.

A total of 67 signatures on petitions were presented to the commissioners.

The petitions stated: “As a property owner around ‘Lake of the Woods’, I have seen little improvement in the maintenance of the roads since the paving of the roads back in (1992-93).

The roads are in deplorable condition with only minor pothole patching in the past couple of years.

This community, with the largest residential population in unincorporated Marshall County, has been under-served in the maintenance of the roads and it has become a safety issue for residents driving, walking, and bike riding around the area.

I/We are signing this petition as taxpayers in Marshall County to make the repaving of our roads a priority in the coming for the safety of the residents.”

While 67 petitions were presented with signatures only 59 were found to be valid signatures.
Understanding their concern Commissioner Mike Delp said during Monday’s meeting that he wasn’t confident any substantial work could be completed on the road in the Lake of the Woods area in 2019.
