Stop signMarshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters is warning drivers of vandalism of county stop signs.

Peters said there are numerous locations throughout the county where stop signs have been pulled out and thrown into fields.     Peters said, “This type of VANDALISM going on with Christmas and New Year right around the corner is so dangerous.”

Peters asks listeners to pass this information on vandalism onto their family members, and also visitors that may be coming.   Residents of the Marshall County are urged to please pay attention to signs, or missing signs and also traffic coming to a stop intersection.  He said,   “With this type of VANDALISM occurring you could never be too cautious.”  The highway superintendent said, “As your stop sign might be up for you to stop one of the other ones at the intersection may be gone.  He suggests drivers stop just to make sure that the other traffic is slowing down or coming to a stop.  Double check and make sure if the sign is up, if it’s on one side it should be on the other.

Anyone noticing a stop sign down is asked to please call the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department so they can contact the Highway Department to get back up as quick as possible.

Peters also asks resident to keep a watchful eye out.  If you notice any type of suspicious activity please notify the sheriff department.
