Tuesday, legislators convened at the Statehouse in preparation for the 2019 legislative session. The Senate welcomed five newly elected senators who took the oath of office surrounded by fellow legislators and family.
Tuesday’s gathering of state lawmakers, known as Organization Day, also provided opportunities to discuss legislative topics and meet with fellow senators and staff before session officially begins Jan. 3.
Senator Randy Head said, “The 2019 session, by law, must end no later than April 29. It is an important session because legislators will work together to pass a comprehensive state budget for the next two years.”
The Senator continues, “In addition to the budget, we will examine and vote on a wide variety of legislative proposals. To help Hoosiers stay informed and engaged as we consider new laws, committee hearings and session meetings can be viewed online by visiting iga.in.gov. Event calendars, meeting agendas, vote tallies and proposed legislation can also be found on this site.”
