Election newsFriday afternoon the Marshall County Election Board certified the 2018 General Election.

Prior to certifying the election, members had to review all the provisional ballots and determine if they should be counted as an official ballot.  There were a total of 12 provisional ballots to review and all but one was rejected.  That single ballot was counted as part of the official election but did not change the outcome of any race on the ballot.

Some of the reasons why the ballots were rejected included have a canceled voter registration, and expired ID, no initials on the provisional ballots or the voter was registered in another county.

Election Board member, Debbie VanDeMark presented a total of 16 ballots that were received late.   8 absentee ballots were received on November 7th and the remaining absentee ballots have been trickling in, including one that was received on Friday, November 16th.

After reviewing all the provisional ballots the Election Board certified the election.

The final election returns show  a 53.37% voter turnout with a total of 15,082 voters of the 28,260 registered voters in Marshall County.
