The Indiana Department of Education (INDOE) released the 2017-18 School Accountability Grades on Wednesday.  Roughly 22% of schools improved one or more letter grades with nearly 9 percent improving their letter grade to an A.  Overall, close to 64% of schools received an A or B.

Grades are given based on academic growth and performance on state English and math exams.

High school grades are based on the same, with an added category: multiple measures, which gives schools scores for graduation rates and share of students who demonstrate they are “college and/or career-ready.”

Plymouth Community School Corporation had a mixed bag of grades.  Jefferson Elementary received a D as did Webster Elementary School.  Lincoln Junior High was awarded a C and so did Menominee Elementary School.   Plymouth High School stood strong with a B and so did Riverside Intermediate School and Washington Discovery Academy.

The grades for other schools in the county were B’s for Triton Elementary and the Triton Jr-Sr High School.  Argos Community Jr-SR High School received a B while the elementary school scored a C.  United-North united School Corporation had both LaVille Elementary and the Jr-Sr High School with B’s.  In Culver the middle and high school received a B while the elementary school got a C.  Bremen High School was an A school while the middle and elementary school received a B.  Over at the John Glenn School Corporation: Urey Middle School, B; John Glenn High School, A; North Liberty School, A; Walkerton Elementary School, A.
