Election Results2The Mid-Term Election Results for Marshall County showed 15,081 total voters with 10,336 voting on the machines Tuesday and 4,745 voting absentee.

Republican prevailed in all races.

Starting with the United States Senate seat held by Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly, Donnelly received 37.7% of the vote while Republican Mike Braun received 58.7% of the votes.

Jackie Walorski the incumbent Republican for US Representative District 2 won handily over the Democratic challenger Mel Hall.  Walorski received 9,309 voted in the county while Hall only took 5,485.  There were also 21 write-ins.

Moving to the local state race, Republican incumbent Jack Jordan from Bremen took 66.7% of the votes while his challenger from Plymouth, the Democrat Michelle Livinghouse receive 33.2% of the votes.

On the county level, Republican Stan Klotz will get the opportunity to bring his plan for better roads to Marshall County as he received 9,889 votes to his challenger, Democrat Richard Erickson II who gathered 4,607 votes.

There will be two new faces and one returning member to the County Council.  For the County Council District 2 seat, current councilman Bill Githens did not make it out of the primary.  He was beat by the Republican Mandy Campbell.  Campbell easily won over the Democratic challenger Martin Oosterbaan with 67.8% of the votes to 32% of the votes.

The County Council District 3 seat has been held by Republican Don Morrison for twenty years.  Morrison decided not to run in the primary and Republican Jack Roose won over Ralph Booker.  In the general election Jack Roose took 2,644 votes while his Democratic challenger Mark Gidley only received 1,413 votes.

The final County Council Seat, District 4 had Republican incumbent Judy Stone with 1,686 votes to her Democratic challenger Angie Rupchock-Schafer’s 1,182 votes.

On township races, it was the Republicans.  For Center Township Trustee, current trustee Doug Kucera is retiring and his assistant, Amy Knapp easily won over Jim Smart with 2,725 votes to 1,967 votes.   For the Center Township Board, the three Republican won by a landslide over the Democrats, Jim Baldwin 2,460 votes; Keith Hammonds 2,484 votes and Bruce Knapp 2,403 votes.  The democrat candidates Nathan Crawford received 1,542 votes while Brandon Rich gathered 1,307 votes and Leticia Torres received 1,371 votes.

The Union Township Board will be filled with Republican with Terri Jo Morrison Hinds getting 688 votes, Michael Overmyer 795 votes and Shirley Snyder 650 votes.  The Democrat, Tracy Fox received 615 votes.

In West Township the Republican incumbent, Terry Borggren received 1,063 votes to his challenger, democrat Greg Frushour who received 445 votes.

The Culver Town Council had two open seats and three candidates.  The two Republicans, Bill Githens received 281 votes and Rep. Bill Cleavenger took 274 votes.  The democrat, Richard West received 267 votes.

School Board Results:

Argos School Board District 2

Ed Barcus 396 votes     Angela Smith  563 votes.

Bremen School Board District 1

Trevor Mikel  616 votes       Todd Huff   1,603 votes

Plymouth School Board District 3

Incumbent Larry Pinkerton 2,172   Jennifer Friberg 2,043  and Michale Clary 823 votes

Triton School Board District 2 Etna Two

Andrew Cook  472 votes      Steven Stichter   603 votes

Union North United School Board Union Township

Karman Eash  622 votes     George Moffett   336 votes

The election report showed 4,743 republican voted a straight party ticket while 1,154 Democrats voted a straight party ticket and 7 Libertarians.
