CulverTool_buildingMembers of the Marshall County Drainage Board meet for a special meeting Monday to consider a variance request from Culver Tool at 1901 Walter Glaub Drive in Plymouth.

Dan Sellars from Territorial Engineering in Walkerton presented the request which seeks a variance to reduce the ditch bank set back from the required 75 feet to 65 feet for a proposed building addition on the east side of the building and a paved driveway at 25feet.

Sellars told the Drainage Board the gravel parking lot was a stop-gap project to handle a parking issue until the new parking lot could be constructed. He also said the new building addition would begin very soon as new equipment will arrive in the near future.

Commissioner Kurt Garner said, “It looks like you are using just about every square inch of the property and we are glad you are in Plymouth and we certainly don’t have an issue with it.”

The motion was made to grant for a variance from 75’ to 65’ for the building addition and from 75’ to 25’ for the driveway and gravel parking lot with the understanding that there will be no liability of the drainage board if maintenance work on the Newcomb Eisenhour Ditch causes any damage to the property.
