Canoe Launch 9-25-18_1One of the best activity and tourism assets has been here in downtown Plymouth for hundreds of years.

Imagine getting in a canoe or Kayak in Bremen and traveling 8 miles downstream to have breakfast in downtown Plymouth.  That could happen someday soon.

The crowdfunding campaign to build a canoe and kayak launch at River Park Square in downtown Plymouth is going great thanks everyone.  Allie Shook, Recreation Director for the Plymouth park department said they need less than $2,000 to meet the goal of raising $11,000 by the November 15 deadline.

And at a recent Stellar Committee meeting, it was revealed that Bremen has land set aside for a similar launch someday soon.

This is the kind of thing that brings new people to Marshall County.  And it enhances the quality of the lives of current residents.

The State of Indiana agrees by offering the $11,000 match if the city of Plymouth can reach the goal of $11,000 for the downtown launch.

As of 5 p.m. on Monday a total of $9,210 has been pledged to the project by 113 patrons and there are just 11 days left to meet the match goal.

Shook said, “Help us prove that this is one of the best places in the American Midwest to live, work and play.  Working together, we’ll get this done.”
