On Sunday October 21st at approximately 7:45 in the morning, officers with the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on U.S. 31 north of 12th Road.
From statements of the parties involved and evidence at the scene, the 2007 BMW 328 had been traveling north on U.S. 31 and ran off of the eastside of the roadway approximately 400 ft. north of 12th Road. The vehicle continued off the roadway, rolling several times, and came to rest approximately 600 ft. after leaving the roadway.
The driver, 26 year old Edwin Octavio Jarquin-Rosado of Eau Claire, WI had several apparent injuries but refused E.M.S. During the course of the investigation, Edwin was also found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and lodged in the Marshall County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated – Endangering and Operating While Intoxicated – above 0.08%.
The passenger in the BMW, Cristopher E. Martinez from Everett, WA, was transported to a hospital for medical treatment and evaluation and had complaints of pain throughout his body and several injured areas.
Both occupants of the vehicle were believed to be wearing their seat belts during the collision. Speed, texting while driving, and intoxication are believed to be factors in the collision.
