ParkDepartmentThis week, Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi told park board members he is working to finalize the contact with the consultants on the historic footbridge project.  VS Engineering is the lead consultant on the project but they are partnering with Lochmueller for part of the work.

Park Superintendent Mike Hite told members the Bill Nixon Field project continues.  After reviewing the quotes, Michiana Contracting was selected to do the block work and they should start this week or next.  Schoberg and Schoberg was awarded the painting project and D-Mark Fencing will be replacing the chain link fencing over the next couple of months.  Plymouth Schools paid for the infield grass and sprinkler system has been completed.  Hite said the new sod is coming along really well.

Hite told Park Board members he sent out requests for bids for the arched entrance at the Mary Beth Hunter Tennis Complex.  The arched entrance was an alternative on the original project and wasn’t completed due to a shortage in funding.  Hite said the entrance archway was included in this year’s budget. He anticipates receiving bids in the couple of weeks.

One final item Superintendent Hite pointed out was the driveway lighting project throughout Centennial Park.  The driveway lighting project with new LED lights has been completed.  He said, “If you’ve gone though you will see quite a difference.”  Part of this project was completed through the city budget and NIPSCO helped on the project with their community service projects.
