Canoe Launch 9-25-18_1The Plymouth Park Department’s plan to have a handicap accessible canoe and kayak launch on the Yellow River could be a reality next year.

During Monday’s Park Board meeting, Recreation Director Allie Shook said the online crowdfunding platform Patronicity is hosting a fundraising site.  The city needs to raise $11,000 to be awarded an $11,000 grant match from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.

The city has a total of 45 days to raise the funds needed for the grant match.  What the city and IHCDA are looking for a smaller donations from many rather than a few large donors.  Shook told park board members on Monday with 39 days left to meet the goal, $1,750 has been raised so far by 54 patrons.  She said, “The momentum is there and there’s a lot of interest in the kayak launch.”

Donations can be made online at www.patronicity.com/TheLaunch. The grant is an all or nothing grant so if the city were not able to raise the $11,000 all donations made would be returned.  You can also donate at the Plymouth Park Department.

As of 9 p.m. on Thursday, with 37 days left, a total of $2,415 has been raised by 58 patrons.
