On Sunday morning, September 30th, just after midnight, Marshall County Officers were en route to Culver to assist an officer on a traffic stop.

On the way down to Culver, Officer Ayala with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was behind a vehicle that was all over the roadway and had driven left of center twice. The officer noted that the vehicle also went over the fog line twice. Officer Ayala then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at State Road 17 and 14B Road.

Making contact with the driver, 45 year old Charlie Carlisle of Plymouth, the officer suspected Charlie was intoxicated.   Performing standardized field sobriety tests Carlisle failed all three tests.   He was then offered the opportunity to submit to a chemical test and agreed and was taken to Hospital for a blood test. Results indicated a positive testing for Methamphetamine.

After a search of Carlisle`s vehicle a syringe was located underneath the driver`s seat where Charlie was sitting. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and lodged for: Operating a motor vehicle with a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Syringe, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Charlie Carlisle of Union Road was also given a bond of $1505 cash bond and a court date of October 9th.

They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
