Septic tank issuesCraig and Valerie Cultice presented an appeal before the Marshall County Health Board on Tuesday evening.  The appeal was to allow them to pump and haul waste from a property they inherited on Wolf Lake.

Health Department Administrator Christine Stinson told the board the Roger P. Bruett Trust has explored several options but have not been able to find a solution for an onsite sewage system.

Valerie Cultice told the health board they sold the property but found out the septic failed the inspection so the sale wasn’t concluded.  Now they are stuck with a home on Wolf Lake that can’t get a septic.

The Cultices are proposing installing two 2,000 gallon holding tanks and then having them pumped by a license hauler in Marshall County when they reach 90% capacity.  They said they would remove the washing machine and put in water saving appliances.

Stinson said she doesn’t have the power to issue a pump and haul permit so the health board had to review the issue.  While the health department can issue a short term permit, it was unsure how long this one might need to be.

Mr. & Mrs. Cultice have submitted a petition to the Town of Culver to extend sewer to service to their residence.

The Health Board tabled any action waiting to hear from the Town of Culver on the possibility of extending sewer service.
