Falloween 2015The 10th Annual Falloween Fest at John Glen High School in Walkerton is this weekend, Friday, September 21th thought Sunday, September 23rd.

This is a fundraiser for the high school and provides scholarships for students.  In fact, from 2009 to 2017 over $240,000 has been raised help students further their education after high school.

This family-oriented festival opens Friday evening with the Grand Parade at 5:30.  ABC 57 Meteorologist Tom Coomes will be the parade Marshal.  He grew up in Greene Township on the South Bend/John Glenn District line.  While he graduated from Washington High School, growing up he did play sports on the North Liberty Youth League.

A number of clubs and organizations at John Glenn High School will be raising funds this weekend including the FFA Club who will be selling mums and the Band Boosters hosting a pork chop dinner on Friday night.

A number of area organizations are also involved this weekend and you won’t want to miss the famous apple dumplings made by the First Presbyterian Church in Walkerton or the Tyner IOOF Fish Fry on Saturday.

Falloween provides something for everyone…a carnival with midway and rides, lots of food items, entertainment, a giant garage sale, tractor pulls, craft vendors, a petting zoo, a 5K run and even fireworks.

Falloweenis actually a learning process for students as many of them are involved in the planning process and volunteering for the event.  For more info check out the Falloween website at falloweenfest.com for a complete list of event.
