The Marshall County Police Department investigated a two vehicle crash at the intersection of State Road 17 and State Road 8 Monday morning that sent both truck drivers to the hospital.
About 9:15 a 2013 Volvo Semi tractor trailer driven by 34 year old Johnboscu U. Azubuike of Detroit was attempting to make a left turn on to State Road 17 from State Road 8 when he pulled out in front of south bound traffic.
The semi pulled into the path of a 2006 International box truck driven by 33 year old John T. Hoyo of Valparaiso.
The box truck struck the side of the trailer and was wedged under the semi trailer. Hoyo was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated from the truck by Plymouth Fire.
Johnboscu Azubuike was transported to Saint Joseph Health Systems Hospital in Plymouth by ambulance while Hoyo was flown to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
The Marshall County Police Department was assisted by Plymouth Fire, Plymouth EMS, Indiana State Police, INDOT, and Reichert and Knepp Towing at the scene of the collision.
The condition of the drivers was not released.
