IrokThe new K9 Handler for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and his partner Irok was officially introduced on Thursday by Sheriff Matt Hassel.

Andrew Wozniak is the new K9 handler, taking over a position that was formerly held by Brandon Cooper who left the department last year and took his K9 partner Arras with him.

A 2 year old, Hungarian born Belgian Malinois called Irok will work the roads in Marshall County with Officer Andrew Wozniak.

In March Wozniak went to the Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, IN and selected his partner.  They spent the next week bonding together and then three weeks training on a daily basis at the kennels.

Irok has been trained to detect marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin.  He is also trained to track a lost child or a fleeing suspect but he is not an attack dog.

Officer Wozniak and his K9 partner Irok have been on the job for about six months and has been successful in about 25 to 30 cases where he detected the presence of drugs.

Irok lives with Officer Wozniak and his wife Sarah and their three children in Plymouth.
