Last month, Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter presented a request to the Board of Public Works and Safety to restrict parking on the south side of Garro Street near Lincoln Junior High.  The mayor said he was sent a photo of the congested traffic that wasn’t moving from a concerned citizen who wondered what would happen if emergency vehicles needed to get through.

The congestion stems from parents waiting to pick up their students from the junior high and park on the south side of Garro Street.  At the same time, the homes on the north side of the street don’t have driveways so they park on the street too.

The board was understanding of the Mayor’s request last month but wanted to notify the neighbors on the south side of Garro Street of the NO PARKING request.  Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt notified the homes affected by the ban and none of them were present at Monday’s meeting.

Board of Public Works and Safety members unanimously approve the no parking request.  Signs will be posted on the south side of Garro Street from Liberty to Indiana Streets limiting parking from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
