PHS_Senior Audit 2018During the September 4 meeting of the Plymouth School Board, four Plymouth High School seniors presented an overview of their experiences with the senior audit process. PHS Assistant Principal, Ken Olson, said, “Every student leaves high school with a plan.“ Director of Guidance, Aimee Proteus, told the board members that within four days every single senior met with someone in the guidance department. The students had filled out a survey designed to help them formulate a plan for themselves after they graduate.

In addition to the Guidance Department staff, students were encouraged to speak with a community member from a career field.

Jackson Lee said he intends to pursue his education at a four year college. He shared that a part of the audit process was to review their transcripts and make sure they were ready to use for applications.  Lee serves as a member of  Go Team where students help other students.

Kelsey Vance is interested in a career in the culinary arts. She said she is already taking classes in foods at PHS and learned through the audit process and speaking with her counselor that Ancilla College offers the type of post grade classes to obtain a degree in business. Once she completes the course work at Ancilla, she plans to attend further culinary training in Texas.

Jennifer Somers plans to follow in the footsteps of her grandfather and join the military. Plans are already in place for her to begin Army basic traing in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida after she graduates in June. She was able to talk with military advisors during the audit process.

Jesus Baca is enrolled in CNC classes at the high school and has already earned two certifications. He said he spoke with ITAMCO representatives and learned about the internship opportunities and the further education they offer. He plans to attend Ancilla Collage.

According to Potties, they will meet with juniors in November and will schedule meetings with students in grades eighth and ninth.
