City HallThe City of Plymouth plans to move back into City Hall the week of September 10th.

During Tuesday night’s Redevelopment Commission meeting, City Attorney Sean Surrisi updated members on the renovation project.  He said the city will be conducting a walk-thru next Monday with Michiana Contracting to create the punch-list of items that still need attention.  They will then have two weeks to fix the issues and the city will receive permission for partial occupancy by September 10th.

The City Attorney said carpet is being laid upstairs and all the woodwork and new bench for the City Council to sit at is done.  Surrisi said there is a still a lot of work yet to be done in the downstairs area.

Surrisi said the Clerk’s Office, Mayor, his assistant and the City Attorney will move back in to City Hall the week of September 10th but no meetings will be conducted in the new Council Chambers until the stairwell at the back of the building, by the elevator is installed and operational.

Surrisi said they are still working on the stairwell issue.  The city has not begun negotiating as to who will pay the additional cost for issues with the stairs.   He said they will also seek a  reimbursement for the city’s August rent in their current building.
