Recycle_DepotThe Board of Director for the Marshall County Solid Waste management District put their seal of approval on the 2019 budget proposed by Executive Director Marianne Peters during their monthly meeting on Monday, August 6th.

The proposed budget includes a 3% raise for all employees.  The director’s salary will increase to $63,860 while the two Hazardous Material Handlers will see an increase of $1,260 bringing their salaries to $43,260.

Peters told the board she increased the communications budget from $1,100 up to $3,800 because they are now responsible for their own phones, internet, software and technology.  Another item increase was Commodity Recycling and Universal Waste.  With recent changes overseas, Peters said she wasn’t sure what would happen in 2019 but she suspects they will have to pay more to recycle and there’s a good possibility they might not be able to recycle as much as they are now.

Under Capital Outlays the executive director also increase site improvements from $8,000 to $15,000 for proposed projects and building maintenance.

The total budget for next year will be $337,870 which is $17,130 higher than the 2018 budget.
