Boys&GirlsClub_giving tree 7-17-18The kids from the Boys and Girls Club in Plymouth put their finishing touch on the new mural, entitled “Giving Tree,” Tuesday, July 17. This beautiful mural is located at the entrance to the new facility.

Boys&GirlsClub_giving tree_5The “Giving Tree” is a graphic representation of a life sized tree that keeps on giving: the roots coming from the earth, growing into an ever sturdy trunk supporting all of the branches that have colorful leaves which give us the carbon dioxide we need for life. It represents the generational cycle of a community, each generation helping to raise the next generation’s children.

Boys&GirlsClub_giving tree_4The idea to gift this mural was initiated two and half years ago when the Tri Kappa sorority was updated on the new building plans by Billie Treber, the Executive Director at that time. From that idea, came the mural which has now become a reality. Jeff Stillson, a mural artist, was brought in to assist the Tri Kappa Sisters. Sherwin Williams donated the paint and over forty hours of painting by the Tri Kappa Sisters went into the finished 20 x 9’ mural.
