rudd .jasonAir Force Col. Jason B. Rudd has assumed command of Florida Air National Guard Headquarters Detachments 1 and 2 at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. 

Rudd graduated and was commissioned from the United States Air Force Academy in 1996. He was a distinguished graduate from pilot training at Laughlin, Texas. After completing his F-15C training at Tyndall Air Force Base, he was assigned to Langley Air Force Base, Va.

There, he qualified as an Instructor Pilot and Mission Commander before being reassigned to his second F-15C assignment at Royal Air Force Lakenheath. During those first two assignments, he deployed to Operations Southern Watch and Northern Watch, as well as twice to Keflavik, Iceland.

After graduation from United States Air Force Weapons School, Rudd served the next six years as the squadron weapons officer at Tyndall AFB, Fla. in the 95th Fighter Squadron, the wing weapons officer in the 325th Fighter Wing, and the squadron weapons officer in the 83rd Fighter Weapons Squadron. While with the that unit, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was the case officer helping Iraq purchase F-16 fighters.

Rudd is the son of Mary L. Rudd of Plymouth, Ind.

He is a 1992 graduate of Plymouth High School, Plymouth, Ind. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1996 from United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.
