Miller's_Abraham Lincoln and children july 2018Independence Day seemed an appropriate day for residents and guests of Miller’s Assisted Living to have a visit from the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.  Danny Russel of Indianapolis is the talent behind the re-creation of Abraham Lincoln.

Russel held the attention of old and young alike as he told the experiences in Lincoln’s life that led to him becoming one of America’s most famous Presidents!  Staying in the character of Honest Abe, Russel told about the various failures that Lincoln encountered.   He had the children on the front row keep a tally as he listed the failures.   They counted as many as 19 failed businesses, partnerships and political campaigns until Lincoln was finally elected to the presidency.  It was then that Russel pointed to the children and claimed it “doesn’t matter how many times a person fails as long as they don’t give up.  Perseverance is the key to success.  Keep on trying!”

Miller's_Abraham Lincoln in Prayer July 2018Russel will return to Miller’s in October just in time to portray “The Hoosier Poet”, James Whitcomb Riley.   Riley is well known for his Autumn/Halloween poem “Little Orphan Annie”.  To receive Miller’s monthly event’s calendar call 574-936-9801 and ask for Anna Corbett or Cindy Flagg.
