Heartland-Gallery-logoJohn Streeter will be the featured artist at Heartland Artists Gallery in July. His pastels and paintings are known for their depth and color. A favorite genre among collectors has been his florals and landscape renderings. These are so professionally done, you could question whether it is a photograph or a real floral. His work hangs in public, private and corporate collections. We are proud to be able to show his work at our gallery from July 3 – 28th.

heartland_july2018_1John grew up in Crete, Ohio and has been drawing for as long as he can remember. His interest in art never faded. He loves painting and believes it is a talent that comes from the soul. After graduating from college he worked as a laboratory manager. This experience helped him greatly with the execution of color in his art career. He started Ideal Signs and Graphics Inc. and produced signs, graphics and commercial art until he retired in 2008. In the 40 years he built his business and raised a family with his wife Carol, he still found time to paint and explore other media.

John shares he is primarily self-taught but did attend The Academy of Art. Through workshops and classes he has met many influential artists who have provided insights that helped advance his abilities and art career. His inspiration to paint almost always comes from photographs he has taken. He takes multiple photos of the same subject so he will be sure to catch all the detail. His own flower gardens are a great source of inspiration and subject matter. His favorite subject matter includes animals, flowers, landscapes and the human form.

Pastel has become his primary media of choice. He also uses a variety of drawing materials. He is a member of the Chicago Pastel Painters and Portrait Society of America.

heartland_july2018_2The community is invited to meet John Street, Sunday July 8 from 1-4 in the afternoon. You will be able to view all of John’s pastels at the Open House Reception. The Gallery’s mission is to support area artists; to bring and to teach the arts to our community.
