Chip seal_oilEmployees of the Marshall County Highway Department will be chip and sealing in Nutmeg Ridge and Carriage Hills subdivisions on Thursday.

In both subdivisions all roads will be sealed.  Jason Peters, Highway Supervisor plans to start around 7:45am in Nutmeg Ridge.    They will start on the cul-due-sac and then do the main roads.

Peters said, “With the width of the roads we will only able to do half the road at a time because the chipper box only goes 19.5 ft so we will have to make two passes to cover the entire roadway.”

On this project they will be using an AE-90 Sealing oil which is a more tacky emulsion.  Peters said, “This material adheres to stone better and set up quicker.  The stone we will be using is #11 slag.”

Peters urges drives to use caution and try to avoid spinning tires, speeding and making sharp turns. He said, “Stone and oil need time to bond.”
