Centennial Park_front gatePlymouth Park Superintendent Mike Hite updated Park Board members on various activities in his department.

The pool opened on May 31st and did very well and Day Camp started on June 4th with 52 campers.  He said the Hoosier Old Wheels Trail and Amphitheater driveway and parking area has been paved although the lot still needs to be striped.

Hite said he has received the new LED street lights for throughout the park.  The park purchased the new fixtures and NIPSCO will be installing them for FREE as part of their community service projects. Hite said his employees are also in the process of exchanging the antiquated lights at the park office, the service center, at the Conservation Club House and at the Webster Center.  The lights are being replaced with LED lights.   Now that park operations are in full-swing the lighting project will continue this fall and winter.  He noted that this will be a money saving project on their utility bill.  The playing surface at Nixon Field will be replaced late this summer or early fall.  Hite said he is working on securing a contractor to work on the block work at Nixon Field and some painting.

Park Superintendent Mike Hite wanted to thank the Plymouth Rotary Club who painted their shelter this spring.  Hite said the park paid for the and the Rotarians provided the labor.
