County news # 2Jason Peters, Supervisor of Marshall County Highway Department told the commissioners on Monday that he is looking at purchasing equipment that is in his 2018 budget.

Peters said, “I’m starting to look into long-term equipment investments.”  He went on to say he’s looking at a smooth drum roller soil compactor and a 24,000 to 30,000 pound track-hoe excavator.  His plan would include trading in the old paver and possibly a back-hoe. Peters is also looking at a service truck and semi tractor to pull the county’s low-boy trailer.

Peters has a budget of $240,000 available for equipment this year.  He estimated $68,000 for the roller, about $100,000 for the excavator, $60,000 for the service truck, and $10,000 for a used semi tractor bringing the total estimate to $238,000.
