County News # 1Changes may be coming to the Marshall County Memorial Forest on State Road 17.

Marshall County Commissioner Mike Delp said he has been contacted by a couple of citizens who are concerned with the 4-wheelers and motocross bikes that are recreating in the county’s forest.  Delp said he took a trip down to the forest and has seen where significant damage has been done with ruts.  Much of the damage is under the high-power electric lines.

Currently there are no ordinances restricting the use of motorized vehicles in the Memorial Forest but Delp said something needs to be done to address the issue.  He suggested putting up signage but the county attorney said without an ordinance it couldn’t be enforced.

Commissioner Kurt Garner said if an ordinance was going to be created for the Memorial Forest, he would like to include the county’s woods on Mill Pond too.

Attorney Jim Clevenger will be drafting an ordinance for the commissioners to consider.
