Plymouth Color Logo2014The Plymouth Common Council is very supportive of assisting the Long Term Flood Recovery Committee.

Monday evening councilman Jeff Houin who serves on the committee made the ask of $25,000 to assist those families who have exhausted their insurance, or didn’t have flood insurance, has worked with FEMA and sought a low interest loan from the SBA.  It was estimated that approximately $450,000 will be needed to assist with the unmet needs of families throughout the county.

Linda Yoder explained that volunteer craftsmen are ready to come and assist but they need building materials.  The $450,000 will help purchase materials for volunteers to use to make homes livable and safe for families.

While the request was for $25,000; Councilman Gary Cook motioned to commit a minimum of $25,000 or the balance of the $100,000 appropriated to the Street Department for flood cleanup.

It was noted that Marshall County has also committed $25,000 for long term flood relief.

Mayor Senter said the city welcomed 11 volunteer workers Sunday evening from Oakland, Michigan.  He thanked Ancilla who is providing housing and food for the volunteers.
