County News # 1Bruce Breeden from Telaman Corporation presented the LED and Solar Power Analysis for the County Building, Court House and Highway Department to the commissioners Monday morning.

Breeden said if the county was to change out all 391 fixtures in the Court House, 576 fixtures in the County Building and 165 at the Highway Department the estimated cost would be $73,502.  He estimated rebates for the improvements at $9,237 making the net cost an estimated $64,265.  The annual energy cost savings would be $31,856 thus allowing the county to get a return on their investment in only 25 months.

While the commissioners were interested in the cost savings, Commissioner Kevin Overmyer suggested waiting and putting the project in the 2019 budget.

Telamon also looked at the possibility of a solar project.  The only location that would work and be feasible was at the jail.  The proposal was for a 460 kilowatt direct current project.  Estimated cost would be $829,000 to put in the project.

The commissioners were not as interested in the solar project as the LED light change-out due to the cost factor and return on investment.
