The Lions Club distributes dictionaries to third grade students. Four elementary schools have received their dictionaries, a total of 247 students so far. The children love their visit from the Lions Club each year as you can see from the picture of these St. Michaels third grade students.
Another recent project completed was the building of a ramp along the entire side of a home for wheel chair accessibility. Lion Bob Kizer, Lion Steve Eggleston, and Lion Manny Guerrero got out their carpenter tools and built the ramp. Another ramp for another homeowner will be completed by the end of the month. Special thanks are given to Carter Lumber and Grand Rental Station for their donation of materials and equipment needed to build the ramp.
Two requests for eye glass assistance were presented and the board voted unanimously to make a donation to the Link to Hope organization.
Recently the Plymouth Lions Club held a White Cane Day fundraiser at Wal-Mart and special thanks is given to all that donated. These donations help to fund our scholarships each year. This past week the Plymouth Lions Club was proud to be able to give two 500 dollar scholarships as well as their donation to the Noble Kizer award for outstanding male and female athletes.
A century ago, Melvin Jones had an idea to help people. This idea would become the World’s largest service organization with Lions in 208 countries serving over 200 million people per year. Let us all continue to work together for a better tomorrow. As Lions, we serve…if you or anyone you know would like to join the Plymouth Lions Club, please contact any Lions club member.
