On Sunday, May 13, around 2:45 p.m., troopers from the Indiana State Police Bremen Post responded to a crash between two vehicles in the southbound lanes of US 31, near the 233 mile marker. This is just south of the US 6 interchange.
Preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Kevin Kubsch shows that a black 2011 Nissan driven by Alejandro Rodriguez Campos, age 46 of Indianapolis, was driving southbound when it was hit in a same-direction sideswipe by a black 2000 Jeep. After the collision the Jeep rolled an unknown number of times causing the driver to be partially ejected. The driver of the Jeep was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marshall County Coroner’s Office. Neither Campos nor the two occupants of the Nissan were injured. The driver of the Jeep was the sole occupant.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected in this crash.
This is an ongoing crash investigation and family notification is pending.
The Indiana State Police were assisted by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County Coroner’s Office, North Township Fire Department and EMS, and INDOT.
