Andrew Wilson Carlin Jr. defeated all of his 8th grade peers to become the spelling champion for Harold C. Urey Middle School! Andres is 14 years old and has three siblings. Although he used to live in South Bend, he moved into the Glenn district while he was in 3rd grade.
His passion for being on the school spell bowl team began in 5th grade and continued through middle school. This year at the state spell bowl competition, Andrew was a perfect speller for Urey Middle School getting all 9 words correct! He is excited for the upcoming competition on May 15th in Culver and looks forward to meeting people from the area who share his passion!
