Elementary and middle schools in Marshall County are gearing up for the 36th Annual Marshall County Spelling Bee to be held in May.
Each elementary and middle school participating in the competition conducts their own spelling bee competition within their school and those winners then participate in the county wide spelling bee.
Kassidy Heise a 7th grade student at Culver Middle School will represent her school. Kassidy is the daughter of Julie Heise and Rudy Heise. She lives in Culver and loves spending time with her dog Lola and cat Whiskers.
The fifth grade winner for Walkerton Elementary School is Livie Foresman. Livie is the daughter of Steve and Angie Foresman. She has a twin sister Nina and a brother Van. She enjoys writing and performing in theater productions.
The sixth grade spelling bee winner for Walkerton Elementary School is Emma Knowlton. She is the daughter of Ryan and Jennifer Knowlton. She has one brother, Josh. She enjoys band, basketball, and volleyball.
Approximately 30 students from Marshall County will compete for top speller at the 2018 Marshall County Spelling Bee. This is the 36th Annual Event and will be held on Tuesday, May 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the Culver High School Auditorium.
Students spend countless hours preparing by studying over 500 words for this competition.
