On Sunday, April 1st, 2018 at 3:32 AM, Marshall County Police Officer Wozniak initiated a traffic stop on a gray 2010 Chevrolet Malibu in the area of US 31 and 9A Road for speeding and unsafe lane movement.

The driver of the vehicle, 27 year old Deangelo Smith-Shaw of South Bend was found to have an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.   Field Sobriety tests, followed by a certified blood draw, showed Smith-Shaw to be three times the legal limit of alcohol.

He was taken to the jail and charged with operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering.

MugShot_taylyn smith (1)An 18 year old female passenger, Taylyn Smith also of South Bend was found to be under the influence of alcohol. She was taken to the jail and charged with illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage.
