Plymouth Color Logo2014Monday evening the Plymouth Common Council conducted two public hearings for two local businesses seeking tax abatements.

Jerry Chavez, President of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation told the council Weir Enterprises, LLC has a longstanding history of successful operation.  They have built a brand new early learning facility on State Road 17 near the hospital with a $500,000 plus investment.  This new facility will also allow Carey’s Child Care to accept children from birth to five years.  She will also be able to accept vouchers and will have On-My-Way-Pre-K too.  At capacity the facility could have 64 kids and the staff will increase from 5 to 10 when a capacity.

The second public hearing was for Pretzels Inc.  Chavez told the council Pretzels Inc. started operations in the “shell” building in April of 2017 and are already ready to expand.  They will invest $9 million to bring in a second product line.  Currently they have nearly 70 employees working 24/7.  With this new line they will hire an additional 35 to 40 employees.  The average hourly wage at Pretzels Inc. is $18.90 an hour.

The Plymouth Common Council unanimously passed resolutions confirming that Weir Enterprises LLC and Pretzels Inc.  with within Economic Revitalization Areas for the purpose of personal property tax abatement for Pretzels and real property for Weir.

This was the final set in the tax abatement process.
