Marshall Superior Court 1 courtroom was a place of celebration on Wednesday, December 6, for six Marshall County Community Correction’s clients as they received accolades and certificates from Judge Robert O. Bowen for successfully completing Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT).

MRT is a systematic treatment strategy that seeks to decrease recidivism among adult offenders while increasing moral reasoning. MRT addresses through its cognitive behavioral approach, elements from a variety of psychological traditions to progressively address ego, social, moral and positive behavior growth.

Programs such MRT have proven very effect in Community Supervision models and have had a great impact in changing criminal thinking and reducing recidivism, according to Director Ward Byers. Director Byers stated he is very proud of the accomplishments of our graduates and staff.  Byers went on to say, “so much of what we do in Community Corrections each day is thanks to the excellent staff and outstanding collaborative working relationships we have with our criminal justice partners in Marshall County”.
