Plymouth Police arrested 35 year old Scott M. Tharpe Monday evening after he was observed creating a traffic hazard near the Duke of Oil on North Michigan Street. He was also observed attempting to make entry into several vehicles.
Tharpe was walking northbound in the southbound lanes of Michigan Street near Plymouth Goshen Trail when Plymouth Police Officer Krynock observed him.
The officer determined that Tharpe was intoxicated and while taking him into custody an off-duty Marshall County officer said he witnessed Tharpe approach his personal vehicle.
Scott Tharpe was booked into the Marshall County Jail on a charge of Public Intoxication and held on a $500 cash bond.
Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
