ChildrenOn Saturday, December 16, the Plymouth High School Student Council will hold their 2017 Christmas Party for Children in Need at Plymouth High School.

This event is an annual party sponsored by the PHS Student Council with assistance from a wide variety of businesses and clubs from the Marshall County area and beyond. The students who are invited to the party range from 5 to 9 years old. They are selected by the social workers from our five local elementary schools in Plymouth. The children are selected based on social, economic and/or emotional needs.

The Plymouth High School Student Council plan a day full of activities, crafts, games, food and entertainment. The goal is to provide a day that is exciting and meaningful. The kids go home with a brand new toy that is given to them by Santa, a goody bag filled with coloring books, crayons, toothbrush, toothpaste, snacks and other trinkets. Each child is also given a new hat, new mittens/gloves and a special Plymouth t-shirt that they receive and wear the day of the party (which matches all of the high school students).

Students hard work along with community generous donations make this very special event possible.

Each year, the student council also sponsors at least two local families from our Plymouth area. We provide gifts, food, clothing and other essentials for each member of the family.  Last, but certainly not least, each year they sponsor, a minimum of 10, high school students who have needs during the holiday season. We purchase clothing, shoes, personal needs and food for them also.

If you or your business would like to make a monetary donation towards this good cause or donate gifts for our 5 to 9 year old guests of honor, you can do so at Plymouth High School during business hours. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the PHS student Council advisor Carin Plothow via email or phone (574) 936-2178 Ext. 1111. The Plymouth High School Student Council thank you in advance for the help you are providing.
