Plymouth Color Logo2014Monday evening the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety ratified the bid award for the 2017 Fall Street and Sidewalk program.

Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt told members after the October 9th meeting the four bids were reviewed and it was determined that Walsh and Kelly from South Bend had the lowest bid.

Marquardt said the two projects at the Plymouth Municipal Airport were removed from the project for finance reasons bringing the final total bid to $1,087,421.19.  He said the bid was still slightly over the appropriation and grant money available so the City Council would have to approve a resolution to transfer additional funding for the project.

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved the Walsh and Kelly bid contingent upon the City Council’s approval of the transfer resolution at the meeting immediately following the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.

The City Council approved the transfer of $16,000 in the Motor Vehicle Highway budget from the street material line item within supplies to Street and Alley Improvements in the Capital Outlay budget.  $8,000 will be used for paving projects and other $8,000 for survey work on Liberty Street for a 2018 project.
