County News_logoMarshall County Highway Administrator, Laurie Baker requested the County Council waive the 10% salary reduction for 90 days on a new employee during their meeting Monday.

Baker said Don Coffin hired into the Highway Department from the Starke County Highway Department.  He already has his CDL and is working at 100% with his assigned duties.  She noted that he took a cut in pay to come to Marshall County but understands his duties of welding and fabricating for the county.  Baker asked to the waiver to be retroactive to his first day on the job.

The County Council unanimously approved the request.

At the recommendation of the City of Plymouth, the County Council also nominated Robert Listenberger to serve on the Plymouth Economic Development Commission.

A few months ago the council nominated Tony Gamble to serve on the commission.  He has recently moved out of the state so a new member was needed for the board.

Listenberger was unanimously approved.
