Marshall County Police have released the detail of the fatal crash on State Road 17 and Sycamore Road. 

Fatal_SR17&Sycamore_truckAt 2:51 Thursday afternoon the County Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a personal injury crash between a 2007 Ford Ranger Pick-up Truck and a 2013 Vao Moped. 

Fatal_SR17&Sycamore_MopedDale Leiter of Plymouth was driving the truck and told Officer Brown he was south bound on State Road 17 approaching the curve at Sycamore Road.  As he turned left onto Sycamore Road he told Officer Brown he didn’t see 20 year old Daniel Osborn on the moped, north bound on State Road 17.   As Leiter made his left turn he struck the moped.
Daniel Osborn was conscious and talking to police and told them he was northbound on 17 at the curve when the pick-up truck turned left in front of him and struck his moped throwing him into the ditch. Osborn complained of pain and was transported to the Plymouth Hospital.  A short time later he was pronounced dead from the injuries received in the accident.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. 

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Fire and EMS.

This crash is still under investigation by the Marshall County Police Department.
